Best Legal Colorado Sports Betting Apps + Sportsbooks In 2024
Legal Colorado sports betting has been around for residents and tourists alike for decades. Over $8 billion has passed through the hands of local sportsbooks in Colorado and this figure doesn’t even include the offshore sportsbooks that accept Colorado residents and have been going so practically since the internet was created. As you can expect, that was well before sports betting in Colorado was even legalized at the state level. The best CO sportsbook apps 2024 add to the three dozen places in the state to bet on sports in person. Every method has its own benefit but using a legal online sportsbook like BetOnline in Colorado offers the most variety.
- Residents voted in favor of sports betting in Colorado on the November 2019 ballot, which began taxing local sportsbooks inside Colorado.
- Besides apps, bet online using a sportsbook that accepts Colorado bettors that is located offshore like MyBookie or BetOnline.

Why Can’t I Bet On College Player Props In Colorado?
Colorado used be one of the best places to bet on the Colorado Buffaloes football team to win.
“It’s quite a phenomenon, the amount of Buffalo bets coming through,” said Joey Feazel of Caesars Digital.
While futures and game lines are still available, other wagers are not. Any college football prop – like a bet on Shedeur Sanders to throw a touchdown – will not be an offered in the CO sports wagering catalogue. The same is true for college basketball, baseball, and other sports. This change happened in 2024, after the NCAA requested states revisit their regulations. Dan Hartman, the Department of Revenue’s Gaming Enforcement Division director, still explained that sportsbooks can request to list a prop in advance. But, none of these prop bet requests will favor anything to do with college sports wagering in Colorado. If you’re ever unsure of you’re options, review the catelogue.
“Once that bet is approved … it would be updated on that list and any operator would be able to take that bet,” Hartman said. “That catalog would be a living document.”

Where To Bet On Sports In Colorado?
Betting on sports in Colorado can only occur in a few towns. The cities with Colorado sportsbooks include Black Hawk, Cripple Creek, and Central City. The sportsbooks in Blackhawk may be the most popular but those near Denver can also check out the sportsbooks in Central City. The Cripple Creek sportsbooks hold their own and are better for locals and visitors to the Colorado Springs area.
Sportsbooks Near Colorado
Unless you are in Black Hawk or Cripple Creek, you may not have a land-based sportsbook close to you in Colorado. For this reason, it can be beneficial to be familiar with the sports betting locations in nearby states. For example, both legal Nebraska sportsbooks and New Mexico sportsbooks take all players from CO or anywhere else in the US. Branching out to other states also opens the door to college prop betting, as the state regulated books in Colorado restrict it.

Colorado Gambling Laws
Home to a large selection of both commercial and tribal casinos, Colorado has gambling options for almost everyone. That wasn’t always the case, as the Limited Gaming Act set restrictive ceilings on things like how much real money betting gamblers could wager, what games they could and couldn’t play, and even how long casinos could stay open each day. Colorado voters had enough and approved Amendment 50, which added craps and roulette gaming to the state, increased the maximum poker, blackjack, and slots wagers to $100 (previously $5), and allowed gaming facilities to operate 24 hours a day. Commercial Colorado casinos are only permitted in the towns of Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek. Sports betting was added to the Colorado gambling market on November 5, 2019, following CO HB19-1327 passing through the state legislature.
Colorado Sports Betting Laws
The gambling market added legal Colorado sports betting in late 2019. After passing Colorado sports betting bill HB 19-1327, the industry immediately opened up. Besides the inability to bet on college prop bets at Colorado sportsbooks, it is rather wide open. Signing up for a Colorado online sportsbook does not require in-person registration.

Additionally, legal NBA betting sites had to payout wagers with +1800 preseason NBA Championship odds when the Denver Nuggets took home the franchise’s first Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Why Can’t I Use My Colorado Sportsbooks Across State Lines?
Regulated Colorado sportsbooks are geo-fenced around the state and can only be accessed within Colorado’s borders. This is due to the federal law known as the Wire Act of 1961. This means that if you are a Colorado resident and you go on a vacation or business trip, you cannot bet on your CO sportsbook out of state. Luckily, legal online sportsbooks that accept Colorado players do not have such restrictions.
