- The West Virginia Mountaineers have +110 odds to make the Sweet 16.
INDIANAPOLIS – As March Madness continues to quickly approach, bettors should begin looking at the other odds on March Madness that legal betting sites have to offer that aren’t the normal game lines or futures odds.
One of the more interesting odds that legal sports betting sites have to offer are whether or not a specific team will make it to the Sweet 16 or not. There are 11 teams with underdog odds to make the Sweet 16.
Will Arkansas Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +115
- No -150
The Arkansas Razorbacks have been an exciting team to watch all season long as they are one of the more explosive and higher scoring teams in the country.
They have a “trap game” in the first round with Colgate who is not expected to give them any trouble and are looking at possible matchups with either Utah State or Texas Tech in the second round.
Both average around 10 fewer points per game than Arkansas and also have a below .500 record against top-25 teams.
Will Texas Tech Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +140
- No -185
Texas Tech surprisingly has underdog March Madness odds to make the Sweet 16. They have a first-round matchup with Utah State which might seem like an evenly matched game at first.
But with 11 games against top-25 teams, the Red Raiders have way more experience against than Utah State does, who has just one. Looking at their potential second-round meeting with either Arkansas or Colgate, they could steam roll past Colgate based on experience alone, however, a matchup with Arkansas could come down to the wire considering both teams have explosive capabilities.
Will Oklahoma State Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +125
- No -165
Those bettors that are looking for some easier money on college basketball odds, can look at Oklahoma State’s odds as money earned.
They have gone 9-5 against ranked opponents so they should have no problems against an unranked Liberty team. In the second round, they could have a matchup with either Oregon State who has had an up and down season, or a Tennessee team who fell short in the SEC Tournament.
The Volunteers average five fewer points per game than the Cowboys do and bettors should be excited about these long odds.
Will North Carolina Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +600
- No -1200
UNC had a rough start to the season (6-4) but finished strong as they went 18-10 to finish off the season including their ACC Tournament run. They have a favorable matchup with Wisconsin in the first round where they are going into the game as -1.5-point favorites.
Their second-round matchup is where things get tough as it will likely be with the top-seeded Baylor. The Tar Heels have gone 4-2 in their last six games while Baylor actually lost their last game out.
If Baylor doesn’t have the bounce-back that they are hoping for in the tournament, an experienced North Carolina team could certainly pull off a victory.
Will Clemson Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +475
- No -850
It could be seen as a bit of a surprise that Clemson’s odds to make the Sweet 16 are as long as they are. Clemson is a very strong defensive team and has some great experience against ranked opponents this season having gone 2-1 while their first-round opponent, Rutgers, has gone an awful 1-7.
Clemson should have no problem in the first round but could find some matchup difficulties against either Houston or Cleveland State. Houston is the heavy favorite to matchup up against the Tigers, who are a great defensive team.
Will Syracuse Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +475
- No -850
Syracuse is seen as the underdogs in their first-round matchup but certainly could pull off an upset over San Diego State. They have one of the best offenses in the country and do put up more points per game than SDSU and also could get hot from beyond the arc in a matter of seconds.
A second-round matchup for them could be against West Virginia or Morehead State in which West Virginia is favored to advance. The Mountaineers are a great team, however, they have shown signs of inconsistency which could play a major role in the Orange possible moving on to the Sweet 16.
Will West Virginia Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +110
- No -145
With West Virginia being a three-seed in the tournament, it is hard to believe that they have underdog odds to make the Sweet 16. The one thing to know is that when they get hot, they really cannot be matched which is why they are heavy 12.5-point favorites over Morehead State.
They would then have a second-round matchup with SDSU or Syracuse.
Will Villanova Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +165
- No -220
Villanova has gone 2-3 over their last five games but they should not forget that the Wildcats turn into a different team come March Madness time.
They have a favorable game against Winthrop and potential second-round games against either Purdue or North Texas, in which Purdue is heavily favored.
If it comes down to Villanova and Purdue, Villanova could use their experienced team to take control of an inexperienced Purdue team.
Will Winthrop Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +750
- No -1900
Winthrop can definitely make the case for a Cinderella team in the tournament as they have what it takes to take down this Villanova team being that the Wildcats have not had the season that they were hoping for.
Looking at the second round, they could face off with Purdue or North Texas in which they can take down either team as well. They average the most points per game amongst all the teams en route to the Sweet 16.
Will St. Bonaventure Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +700
- No -1600
The Bonnies are poised to show the country why they made the NCAA Tournament as the ninth seed in East Region. They are fresh off of an Atlantic 10 Tournament win and have a meeting with a tough LSU team, however, it is the Bonnies defense that is set to carry them.
They face a real test in the second round which they could see a number one seeded Michigan team that is actually looking to get back on track after losing three of their last five games.
This would be a huge test and accomplishment for St. Bonaventure to take them down, but college basketball betting fans would have a solid payout.
Will UConn Make The Sweet 16?
- Yes +250
- No -360
The Huskies could be seen as a dark horse team here in both the first and second round. They are going up against a Big 10 opponent in Maryland and are looking to prove a point that they belong.
UConn averages four more points per game than the Terps and could take them down in the Round of 64. In the Round of 32, they could be met by either Alabama or Iona in which Alabama is seen as the huge favorites. They could run into some trouble here, but UConn has the talent to hold up against the Crimson Tide.
