MELBOURNE – The 2022 Australian Open odds leaves one of last year’s best performers as a +20000 longshot to win this year.
Australian Open Odds Show Open Field
For many years the Australian Open has been dominated by Novak Djokovic. Given his visa saga, he is questionable in terms of competing and thus, the field is wide open. Naturally, many will look to last year’s event to see who performed well and one of the semifinalists, Aslan Karatsev, is very far down on the odds board.

- Aslan Karatsev +20000
It’s somewhat confusing as to why legal online sportsbooks have made Karatsev such a longshot after his strong performance, especially when considering he lost in the semis to Djokovic who may not be competing this year.
He is the 20th-ranked player in the world and seems to like the event. It’s possible that Karatsev makes the same run but this time won’t run into Djokovic, and at that point anything can happen.
Those betting on tennis shouldn’t unload their account on Karatsev as there are still better players in the tournament, but at 200-1 he deserves some action, regardless of how small. Plus, it’s not like he’s in bad form as he’s currently in Australia getting ready for the championship match in the Sydney International against Andy Murray.

Karatsev shouldn’t be a favorite, but his odds should be much shorter than what they’re currently listed at, leaving an easy tennis hedging opportunity.
