Breaking News: Preakness Stakes betting favorite Muth scratched from race due to a spiked temperature. Muth had a fever of 103 degrees on Tuesday night, forcing his camp to scratch him from the 2024 Preakness Stakes.

Muth had -120 odds to win the race but the Maryland Jockey Club officially changed his status early Wednesday morning to out. Muth’s absence opens the door for Mystik Dan to claim the second step towards the Triple Crown on Saturday.

We’ll have the latest Preakness Stakes betting odds without Muth as soon as they’re available. Mystik Dan expects to be the favorite.

BALTIMORE – Post positions are set for the second stop of the Triple Crown. Mystik Dan has +400 legal sports betting odds to win after his photo finish victory at the Kentucky Derby, but one horse looks to rain on Mystik Dan’s Triple Crown chances.

Mystik Dan will be the horse everyone’s looking for, but he isn’t the favorite. Bob Baffert’s Muth is the betting favorite with -120 Preakness Stakes odds for Saturday’s race.

Catching Freedom (+600), Mystik Dan (+400), and Just Steel (+1500) are the only Kentucky Derby horses to race at the 2024 Preakness just two weeks later. Bob Baffert couldn’t enter Muth into the Kentucky Derby due to his suspension from Churchill Downs, but he has two strong Preakness participants at horse racebooks in Muth (-120) and Imagination (+650).

Baffert Could End Triple Crown Hopes For Second Straight Year

At last year’s Preakness, Kentucky Derby winner Mage finished second behind the Bob Baffert-trained National Treasure. Based on horse racing betting odds for the 2024 Preakness Stakes, Mystik Dan could fall to a similar fate to the favored Muth.

Still, Mystik Dan’s No. 5 post position is by no means a bad draw as Early Voting won out of the fifth gate in 2022. Bovada and other Triple Crown betting sites offer +1600 odds for Mystik Dan to win the Triple Crown this year.
