- 5Dimes sportsbook has launched in the regulated sports betting market of Isle of Man.
- The sportsbook has been shut down since September of 2020 due to legal issues.
- The product is still unavailable in the United States.
DOUGLAS, Isle of Man – Sports bettors in the British Crown of Isle of Man can now access the popular 5Dimes sportsbook.
The sportsbook has officially launched in the UK and can now provide its full-service sports betting operation to players in the UK.
5Dimes was initially an international sportsbook that operated globally, but due to legal issues, they were forced to shut down their operations. The sportsbook planned to return as a regulated book and this is the first market they have entered.
5Dimes Goes regulated
The sportsbook was ordered to pay the US over $46.8 million due to violating laws in the US, and was barred from operating in the country.
Following the settlement, 5Dimes began working towards returning in a regulated capacity. While still unable to offer odds in the States, this entrance into the UK market is a big step for the infamous sports betting provider.
“This licensure is an exciting milestone for the 5Dimes brand,” said Laura Varela, Member of 5Dimes Sportsbook’s Board of Directors. “The Isle of Man is a Tier-1 jurisdiction, known for its advanced approach to gambling and e-gaming legislation and its exceptional reputation in the international gaming community. The Isle of Man sets high standards for its gaming operators and players, and we look forward to upholding the same level of principles and innovation with the launch of 5Dimes.”
The sportsbook gained its regulation operation license from the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission earlier in the month. The Isle of Man is a hotbed for legal gambling as it became the first jurisdiction to introduce e-gambling laws in the world back in 2001.
This is the perfect market for 5Dimes to start in as it is well established and highly regarded. The Isle of Man also has several laws already in place to protect gamblers in its regulations.
The full-service legal sports betting provider is already available in the state and can be accessed from anywhere in the UK thanks to mobile and online sports betting.
This is a good sign for the future of the 5Dimes sportsbook.
