CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The ACC tournament tips off Tuesday night at the Spectrum Center, featuring matchups between Pittsburgh and Notre Dame, California and Virginia Tech, and Syracuse vs Florida State.

Duke is the clear favorite to win the tournament, coming in as the top overall seed in the conference and second ranked team in the country, only behind Auburn.

Clemson and Louisville are not far behind, however, as both are ranked within the top 15 in the country.

Conference Powerhouses

College basketball sportsbooks online view the ACC as a three-team race between Duke, Clemson, and Louisville.

The Blue Devils are the top-rated team on KenPom, as the only team in the country to be rated top five in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Led by freshman phenom Cooper Flagg, Duke looks to win their ACC-best 23rd conference championship, most recently winning in 2023.

Surprisingly, neither Clemson nor Louisville have won an ACC tournament title in their history.

Clemson defeated Duke in February, 77-71 on their home floor. They rank 18th in offensive efficiency and 21st in defensive efficiency, balanced play leading them to a 26-5 record.

Louisville is not far behind at 25-6, ranking 30th in offensive efficiency and 19th in defensive efficiency.

Both of these teams have a shot to win their first conference championship, but it is Duke’s to lose.

Bang For Your Buck Picks

The rest of the teams in the conference have significantly longer odds to win, the next closest being UNC at +1500. The Heels could make a run if their up-tempo offense led by senior guard RJ Davis takes a step forward, but there has not been much done by UNC to inspire confidence.

An interesting headline entering the tournament is Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton’s decision to retire. Despite an underwhelming 17-14 record, the Seminoles pulled off an unexpected upset against SMU in their season finale and should be playing some inspired basketball for their coach.

Pittsburgh is the team to pick if you are looking for a decent longshot on legal sports betting sites. At +15000, they are tied for seventh best odds with Stanford, but feature the 38th most efficient offense in the country.

The safe play is to bet on Duke, as they have been dominant all year and continue to be one of, if not the best team in the country. Otherwise, Clemson is the best bet to upset Duke at +500 and Pittsburgh is the play if you’re looking for a Hail Mary.
