Celtics - Warriors

  • Stephen Curry has a 28.5-point total for Game 3 with -120 odds on the over.
  • Jayson Tatum went under his 3.5 turnover total in Game 1.
  • Klay Thompson has gone under his point total in both games in the finals.

BOSTON – With the NBA Finals now headed to Boston for Games 3 and 4, it is a good time to dive deep into different player props and how some players performed against their odds.

Some of the most notable props to eye in on have been Stephen Curry’s scoring, Klay Thompson’s shooting, Jayson Tatum’s turnovers, and Al Horford’s scoring during his first finals series.

Golden State Warriors Player Props

Stephen Curry Props:

The hype going into the finals was that Curry was going up against Marcus Smart on the defensive end who has held him to 9-27 shooting (33%) since 2017. Regardless of smart drawing the assignment on Curry, legal online betting sites have given him a 27.5 scoring total in both Games 1 and 2 where he has gone over the total both times for 34 and 29 points while going for over 42% shooting in both games.

Looking ahead to Game 3, Steph’s NBA Finals odds for points are set at 28.5 points in which he has hit the over in six of his last 10 games in the NBA Finals games outside of this series.

Klay Thompson Props:

It is safe to say that Klay Thompson is in a slump in these NBA Finals having stayed under 16 points in both games after being given a 20.5-point total in each contest. His three-point shooting has also been way down having gone1-8 and 3-7 and not going over his 3.5 total threes made at all. The struggles do make sense as Thompson has not performed well against the Celtics in his career only averaging 19.1 ppg and 2.1 threes made.

There is some light to be shined though looking ahead to his Game 3 player props. In his last four games against Boston on the road, he has gone for 20 points or more three times and has hit exactly three 3-pointers in his last three games in Boston. If bookmakers look to decrease his points and threes made, it would be wise to get in on them going over for some serious value.

Boston Celtics Player Props

Jayson Tatum Props:

Jayson Tatum has had a rollercoaster playoff run thus far and the finals have been no excuse. He was given a 27.5 total in Game 1 in which he went under with only 12 points and a 26.5 point total in Game 2 where he went over at 28 points. Looking back at the Eastern Conference Finals, one scoring trend that has followed Tatum is that his scoring has fluctuated up and down each game. That said, with his 28 points scored in Game 2, it is on the up side of the rollercoaster which could mean a drop is coming in Game 3.

Turnovers have also been a problem for him after having 4.7 per game in the ECF. Granted, Miami was a top-5 team in turnovers forced per game. However, it seems that he has tightened things up in the finals as he stayed under his 3.5 turnover mark in Game 1 and had four turnovers in Game 2. Like his points, his turnovers have also gone up and down and with Game 2 being the up side, he could see fewer turnovers in Game 3.

Al Horford Props:

Many were riding high on Al Horford after his first NBA Finals game saw 26 points after having a 10.5 point total. In Game 2 though, he was brought back to life and even held in check after going for just 2 points after having an 11.5-point total. Many forget that Horford averaged just 9.8 ppg in the conference finals and that he struggled when the series went back to Boston having scored just 5 and 3 points in his last two playoff games in the TD Garden. It is safe to say that his home struggles will continue making the under on his point total one to keep an eye on.
