- SBTech won the Sports Betting Supplier of the Year Award at the eGR B2B Awards 2019 for the first time ever.
- The company has been operating in the US since 2018 and has established partnerships with both casino operators and state governments.
- SBTech was also named the Sports Betting Supplier of the Year by the EGR Nordic Awards in January of this year.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – SBTech, an international online gaming and sports betting provider, made history during the 2019 eGR B2B Awards.
The company not only won the Sports Betting Supplier of the year award but also won the best In-play Betting Software award for the fourth year in a row.
“All the team’s hard work and commitment has paid off and we’re delighted to win the prize for the Sports Betting Supplier of the Year for the first time,” said Andrew Cochrane, Chief Development Officer at SBTech.
“We’ve secured some of the industry’s largest and most strategically significant deals in the last year and this is just reward for everyone’s efforts.”
Those deals include several in the U.S. sports betting market. In the weeks after the repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) by the US Supreme Court, SBTech made several strategic partnerships.
Just two days after the repeal, SBTech announced a long-term relationship with Churchill Downs Incorporated. SBTech now supplies the iGaming and sports betting software across Churchill Downs racinos across the United States.
Similar deals were struck with Resorts Casino Hotel and Golden Nugget Casinos. The casino partnerships allowed them to set an early presence in states such as Pennsylvania, Mississippi, and New Jersey, all of which legalized sports betting shortly after the repeal of PASPA.
With more states having legalized the activity since then, SBTech has been actively pursuing more strategic partnerships.
One of the biggest of these is their deal with the Oregon Lottery which was finalized earlier this month. Oregon, which plans to launch retail and state-wide sports betting apps through the lottery later this year, signed SBTech as their exclusive sports betting provider.
On Wednesday, the company even announced the appointment of Melissa Riahei as the President of SBTech US. Riahei was a former General Counsel member to the Illinois lottery and will now oversee and lead the company’s efforts to establish a presence in additional states.
“I’m confident that she will serve as a great leader for our US team on the ground and our partners,” said Richard Carter, CEO of SBTech. “This appointment demonstrates our continual commitment to the US market by providing dedicated leadership of our US teams to support our partners’ ambitions.”
The award for Sports Betting Supplier of the Year considers all of the efforts made by SBTech. In January, the company was named Sports Betting Supplier of the Year at the EGR Nordic Awards for its long-standing run of high performing sportsbook products in the region.
SBTech’s most recent accomplishment is a testimony to a highly constructive year. But, given the company’s ambitions, it wouldn’t be surprising to find them on the stage in next year’s eGR B2B Awards.
