- The Arizona Cardinals drafted Isaiah Simmons with the 8th pick.
- The Cardinals were expected to draft an offensive player.
LAS VEGAS – With the NFL Draft kicking off at 8 p.m. EST, it didn’t take long for the first upset to occur.
As the eighth team on the clock, the Arizona Cardinals selected Clemson Tigers linebacker, Isaiah Simmons. While Simmons will be a great addition to the Cardinals defensive mid-field, the expectations were that Arizona would draft an offensive player.
Set at -175 odds to offense first, NFL bettors were able to capitalize on +135 odds when the Cardinals chose to address defense first. Also on the underdog end, Simmons lasting until Pick 8 was a success for those staying away from chalk.
With +120 odds to be taken over Pick 7.5, those who took the under lost on a -160 bet.
While the draft is only in its initial stages, there are many other options for underdogs to hit in the first round of the NFL Draft.
