PHOENIX – The recently launched regulated sports betting market in Arizona just proved its popularity after setting a record $563 million handle in January.
A New Record Betting Handle
A recent report from the Arizona Department of Gaming showed that Arizona is the ninth state to report a monthly betting handle of over $500.
This is a 12.9% increase from December’s handle of, $499.2 million.
While that’s not a massive jump, it does show that interested in Arizona’s regulated sports betting market has continued to grow.

Breaking $2 Billion
January’s impressive month of Arizona sports betting was enough to push the market over the $2 billion gross total handle mark.
This makes Arizona the fastest state to achieve that goal, having done so in just five months after Arizona’s legal sports betting market went live in September 2021.
The combined gross sports betting revenue of Arizona’s 12 mobile and two retail sportsbooks comes out to $40.5 million.
Due to the lucrative month of sports betting, the Arizona state government received nearly $2 million in taxes from January’s bets.
These tax dollars are earmarked towards the Arizona Department of Gaming, and the General Fund.
