Astros and Dodgers Have Shortest World Series Odds

• The Houston Astros recorded the best record in the AL and have the shortest odds to win the AL at +175 and the second shortest World Series odds at +425.

LOS ANGELES – The 2022 playoff bracket is locked and the LA Dodgers have the best overall odds to win the World Series but the Houston Astros are close behind. Both of these teams finished with the best record in their respective league and have received a bye for the first round of the playoffs.

These two teams know how to make a deep playoff run, with each team having won the World Series since the 2017 season.

Betting on the Dodgers

LA has been the favorite for the legal World Series betting for the majority of the regular season and recorded the best record in both leagues. The Dodger’s dominance has been seen in the past, after winning the 2020 World Series with +325 preseason odds.

Outplayed by the Braves, the Dodgers almost made back-to-back World Series appearances before losing the National League Championship game. The Dodgers are currently favored to win the NL in 2022, with +170 odds, and have been favored at Bovada Sportsbook for the majority of the MLB season.

The Dodgers are either facing the San Diego Padres or the New York Mets during the second round of the playoffs. The Dodgers played the Padres nine total times in the month of September and won six of those games, including the last two.

The Dodgers did not play as well against the Mets in 2022, going 3-4 but the Met’s recent struggles against the Braves could indicate that the Padres are going to move on to face the Dodgers

Betting on the Astros

While the Astros have the second-best odds to win the World Series, they have a tougher path to reaching the end of the postseason than the Dodgers. However, the Astros are the favorite to win the AL Championship with +175 odds at sites with legal betting.

During the 2022 regular season, the Astros went 2-4 against the Blue Jays and had to score (*eight or more runs to secure the victories. Although the Astros did not struggle against the Mariners during the 2022 season, Miami has gone 6-4 over their last ten games.

The addition of Luis Castillo to their pitching rotation gives the Mariners more depth that they can use to make a deep playoff run or just potentially give the Astros some issues. With the Astros set to sit back and wait for one of these opponents in the second round of the playoff, the Yankees get to face either the Rays or the Guardians.
