  • Auburn has +100 odds to make the Final Four.
  • There are +450 odds for Michigan State to win the South Region.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The South Region of the 2025 March Madness bracket is stacked with several contenders who could make it out and head to the Final Four.

Of those teams is the number one overall seed in the tournament in Auburn who not only is favored to win the region but has the third shortest odds of winning March Madness. Michigan State and Iowa State round out the teams in the region with under +1000 odds on legal sports betting sites to move on to the Final Four.

2025 March Madness South Region Odds

  • Auburn +100
  • Michigan State +450
  • Iowa State +550
  • Louisville +1600
  • Texas A&M +1600
  • Michigan +1800
  • Marquette +2200
  • Mississippi +2200
  • Creighton +3300
  • North Carolina +4000
  • UC San Diego +4000
  • New Mexico +6600
  • Yale +15000
  • Lipscomb +30000
  • Alabama State +50000
  • Bryant +50000

Sticking with Auburn, they are such heavy favorites with how their side of the South Region bracket played out. They avoid playing the heavyweights in #2 Michigan State, #3 Iowa State, #6 Ole Miss, #7 Marquette, and #11 North Carolina.

After the first round, they’ll get either Louisville or Creighton who have been sketchy all year, and either Yale, who many have on upset watch over Texas A&M in round one, Michigan, or UC San Diego who bettors also have on upset watch.

With that, Auburn could have a well rested cakewalk to the Elite 8 and face a team on the other side that has already gone through the wringer.

Izzo, Michigan State Poised For A Run

Of the eight teams in the bottom half of the region, Michigan State’s draw has them set up nicely to get to the Sweet 16 following their first round matchup with Bryant. They’ll play the winner of #7 Marquette and #10 New Mexico.

Marquette has struggled in their recent March Madness appearances with first/second round exits in four of their last five. New Mexico, a part of the Mountain West Conference who has gone 0-22 in the NCAA Tournament when going in as a #10 seed or lower.

With that, Michigan State could have a nice ride to at least the Sweet 16 before potentially facing Auburn in the Elite 8 to move on.

Dark Horses

There are two potential underdogs that come to mind on college basketball betting sites to win the region in #11 North Carolina and #5 Michigan. North Carolina, with their rich March Madness history, high level recruits, and veteran experience should never be counted out regardless of their seeding. The Tar Heels also showed their dominance with a 27-point win in the First Four against San Diego State where the momentum could carry throughout the tournament.

As for Michigan, they are the Big 10 Champions and are coming off of their best seasons since 2018-19. They would potentially face Auburn on their side of the bracket and match up well with them as far as size goes.
