DJ Wagner - Hunter Dickinson

  • Odds are favoring Kansas over Arkansas with a 4.5-point spread.
  • John Calipari has only lost in the first round twice.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two veteran, championship caliber coaches are going head to head between Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks against John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

It’s the Jayhawks though who are favored in this one on legal sports betting sites by a slight 4-point spread. However, it is a solid enough number to trust the Razorbacks to cover.

#10 Arkansas Vs. #7 Kansas

  • Moneyline: Arkansas (+170) vs. Kansas (-200)
  • Spread: Kansas -4.5
  • Total: 145

Coach Cal Pulls Through In Must Win Tourney Game

Although both teams are closely seeded here, bettors should roll with the Razorbacks on the spread at +4.5 here and maybe even on the moneyline at CBB sportsbooks as well. Kansas just hasn’t shown the same dominance that they once had while Arkansas has turned up the heat at the right time heading into the tournament.

Since the beginning of February, Kansas boasts just a 6-7 record and a 5-8 record against the spread. As for the Razorbacks, they are 8-5 straight up and 9-4 against the spread since then as well. They’ve also covered in six of their last seven games as an underdog.

In their last five March Madness games, Arkansas is 3-2 both S/U and ATS. Kansas, on the other hand, has lost two of their last three tournament games and are 0-3 ATS in those matchups also.

On an experience level, just like this isn’t the same Kansas team, this also isn’t the same Arkansas team. When Coach Cal agreed to move to Arkansas this year, he brought some serious talent with him in Adou Thiero (15.6 ppg), Boogie Fland (15.1 ppg), D.J. Wagner (11.1 ppg), and Zvonimir Ivisic (9.3 ppg). All who were either committed to or enrolled at Kentucky last season and all who have some serious March Madness experience as well.

This is a great spot for both Coach Cal and Arkansas as a whole to make a statement for his first year as coach against a spiraling Kansas team.
