- Rory McIlroy is the betting favorite with (+800) odds to win the event.
- Collin Morikawa is the second option on the board with a (+900) betting line.
- Justin Thomas has (+950) odds as the only other golfer with a line short of (+1000).
ALBANY, Bahamas – The 2021 Hero World Challenge is set to take place on Thursday and Rory McIlroy has the shortest odds to win. But there are others who could be better equipped to win the event.
What Is The Hero World Challenge?
It’s always important to know what’s being bet on, and this weekend is no regular golf tournament. The Hero World Challenge is a special event hosted by Tiger Woods in which he invites 16-20 of the world’s best golfers to compete for $1 million. Legal sports betting sites have released odds for all of the participants.

It’s the last event of the season, and while golfers can’t earn any FedExCup points and the money earned isn’t counted in the world money rankings, the players can earn world rankings points, which actually have a big impact on this season.
The Favorites: McIlroy, Morikawa And Thomas
The field is loaded with a lot of the top talent in the world, but with the field only being 20 players deep, the favorites are even more likely than usual to come out on top.
Rory McIlroy (+800)
Rory McIlroy will make his first appearance at the course which is a bit worrisome considering he’s playing against a handful of players who have played, and succeeded, at this course in the past.
McIlroy won his last PGA Tour event but there simply seems to be better options in the field when taking their price into consideration.
Collin Morikawa (+900)
Not a single golfer in the field has more on the line than Collin Morikawa. If he were to win this event, he would become the No. 1 player in the world golf rankings.
He would be the second-fastest player to reach the top spot in the rankings. Other than Jon Rahm, who isn’t playing this week, there are very few people that can even argue to have had as good a year as Morikawa.
Getting the hot hand with some extra motivation at (+900) seems like a solid bet for the weekend. Those betting on golf should also know that Morikawa is second this season in average strokes gained per round.
Justin Thomas (+950)
Justin Thomas is the final golfer with odds short of (+1000). In his last few outings, he was as good as anyone in the field in getting the ball to the green with a chance to make birdies but was unable to putt well enough to earn victories.
Thomas can be the best golfer in the world on any given weekend and in an event where approach play has proven to drive success, there aren’t many in the world better than Thomas.
The event will begin on Thursday with the first group teeing off at 11:05 a.m. EST. The event can be streamed through Golf Channel TV.
