BALTIMORE – There’s plenty of betting options for this weekend’s Preakness Stakes but one of the more unique is the head-to-head betting opportunity.

Concert Tour (EVEN) vs. Medina Spirit

Sports betting sites might be overreacting to the Kentucky Derby win by Medina Spirit. Concert Tour was always considered Bob Baffert’s best horse this year and would likely have gone off as the second favorite in the Kentucky Derby behind Essential Quality had he qualified.

There’s a reason why Medina Spirit went off at +1400 at the Kentucky Derby, the horse isn’t all it’s getting hyped up to be.

Horse bettors may find more value in betting Concert Tour to win the race, but getting EVEN odds in this spot doesn’t seem too bad either.

Rombauer (-125) vs. Crowded Trade

Rombauer is going to be in a good spot to get ahead of some horses late in the race. With Medina Spirit and Concert Tour projected to be the speed of the race, horses like Crowded Trade are going to be fighting to keep close behind.

If the speed horses are pushing the pace, it’s going to tire out Crowded Tour which sets up for a closer like Rombauer to pass a couple of horses during the final stretch.

A bet like this has a couple of factors to keep eye on. The weather will play a big part in the state of the track on whether the speed is holding or not. If able, watch some of the preliminary races on Saturday and see how the track is running.

Keepmeinmind (+110) vs. Risk Taking

Keepmeinmind might be undervalued in this spot. He’s ran against the best horses in the class and fared relatively well. Keepmeinmind placed seventh in the Kentucky Derby but didn’t run too bad of a race.

He also ran second to Essential Quality in the Breeders’ Futurity and third to Essential Quality and Hot Rod Charlie in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. This horse has proven it can hang in there with the best of them.

Risk Taking is no slouch, but Keepmeinmind is just more proven in a field filled with quality horses.

The Preakness Stakes will go off on Saturday, May 15 with post time scheduled at 6:50 p.m. EST. The race will be broadcasted on NBC.
