Best MLB Futures Odds Approaching Mid-Season

• Betting odds for the World Series are at their most valuable, with the Los Angeles Dodgers as the favorite at +350 betting odds.
• Other valuable MLB odds include the Chicago White Sox (+650), Houston Astros (+1400), and Tampa Bay Rays (+1500).

LAS VEGAS – The MLB season is now approaching the halfway mark, and many bettors are putting together their futures bets for who will win the World Series.

With each team having around 70 games under their belt, the teams in contention for a championship are beginning to take place.

That means that there is no better time than the present to take advantage of the MLB futures odds currently available on many the legal online sportsbooks.

At this point in the season, the division leaders in the American League are the Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago White Sox, and Oakland A’s with Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros currently holding the Wild Card positions.

For the National League, the leaders are the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and New York Mets with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers currently in the Wild Card.

Just on that info alone, there is great value in multiple teams currently on the board.

The White Sox have been one of the most dominant teams in baseball and currently sit at +650 to win the World Series. The Southsiders rank in the top five of team batting average, on base percentage, hits, and runs while also having a top five team ERA.

Out of the top five teams, they are easily the best pick, even over the defending champion Dodgers. While the Dodgers are also an elite club, they are not even first place in their own division thus far this season and are simply not worth their price at +350.

Interestingly enough, the San Diego Padres hold the third shortest odds to win the World Series while not leading their division OR being in place for the Wild Card.

The Padres have one of the best teams on paper, but have stumbled too often to be considered a serious contender just yet. Being swept by the fledgling Colorado Rockies last week is a great example of this inconsistency.

Those looking to bet on MLB futures can find much better value just slightly down the board.

The group of teams consisting of the Houston Astros at +1400, Tampa Bay Rays at +1500, Boston Red Sox at +1800, and Oakland Athletics at +2000 have easily some of the best value on the board.

All of those listed teams are current division leaders with the exception of the Red Sox who are just 0.5 games behind the Rays and the Astros who are two games behind the A’s.

Baseball is a sport that is won by the team playing the best heading into the postseason, just ask the 2019 Washington Nationals. Any of these teams could go on a run deep into the postseason if they are able to keep up their performance and make necessary “win-now” moves at the trade deadline.

The same is true for a team like the Chicago Cubs, who lead the NL Central but are still listed for +4500 betting odds. While the Cubs have their issues, they could make important moves to turn their team into a championship-level team over the last half of the season.
