PITTSBURGH – Just days before Thursday Night Football on Thanksgiving Day, BetMGM has announced that they will become the first Gaming Partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The partnership gives BetMGM access to fan-focused assets of the Steelers. The sports betting and iGaming company will become the sponsor of the Steelers Kickoff pregame show as well as hold in-stadium signage and promotions among other outlets.
“We are excited to introduce BetMGM to Steelers Nation,” said Ryan Huzjak, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Not only will BetMGM be elevating some of our existing platforms, but they will be introducing new and exciting opportunities to Steelers fans. We are looking forward to kicking off this partnership.”
BetMGM was awarded a PA sports betting and online casino license by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) on October 28, 2020. BetMGM Sportsbook and online casino is expected to launch in the weeks to come or before the end of the year.
Key Details Of The Deal
The finer details of the BetMGM-Pittsburgh Steelers include some familiar provisions found in other sportsbook to sports team deals.
For example, BetMGM now has the rights to use Steelers logos and trademarks throughout their marketing outlets such as social media. But they also have access to other Steelers’ promotional assets.
BetMGM will have a commercial spot during the Mike Tomlin Weekly Press Conference every Tuesday as well as Steelers Weekly on Saturdays and the Mike Tomlin Show on Saturdays.
They will also have advertising time slots for Gameday and weekly radio broadcasts such as the Players Show or The Point After.
They will even host the “Decade of Black and Gold” sweepstakes where one winner at the end of the season will be awarded with club level season tickets and VIP Hospitality Tent passes for the next 10 years. Steelers fans will see this contest take place throughout the remainder of the season.
“Steelers Nation is one of the most passionate fan bases in professional sports and we’re thrilled to bring the excitement of BetMGM to Steelers fans,” said Matt Prevost. We’re eager to launch BetMGM’s gaming offering in Pennsylvania and I can’t think of a better way to kick off our entry into the state than through this monumental partnership.”
A Growing Trend in Pennsylvania
Legal sports betting sites have partnered with other teams in the state of Pennsylvania.
On the other side of the state, the Philadelphia Eagles recently entered into a partnership with DraftKings. The two entities will launch a free predictive game. The Eagles even have a sports betting and iGaming partnership with Unibet.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have also entered into a partnership with BetRivers. Through their deal, BetRivers will build a sportsbook inside PPG Paints Arena.
While the BetMGM deal with the Steelers isn’t quite as expansive, it still allows them to target one of the largest fanbases in the biggest sport in America.
