Sitting atop the board is Jon Rahm, who will be making his return to Torrey Pines where he previously won the 2017 Farmers Open Championship.
Rahm was forced to withdraw from the Memorial Tournament while in the lead two weeks ago due to a positive COVID result.
Rahm was playing tremendous golf at Muirfield Village before his removal, so it only makes sense that he would be the pre-tournament favorite at a golf course he has won at in the past.
Just behind Rahm at +1600 are a group of top golfers with lots of potential: Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, and Xander Schauffele.
Koepka has shown that he can get up off the couch and compete at a major tournament. One of the most impressive outings of his career came in his runner-up finish to Mickelson at the PGA Championship just a few weeks ago, a tournament he entered while nursing a knee injury.

For DeChambeau, he is the defending champion of the US Open and would love to bomb his way around the links at Torrey Pines. DeChambeau will always be a factor at large courses like this and knows how to play the US Open field better than most.
Those who bet on golf know that DJ is always a decent play, but with his form as of late slighting fading, he could be the wrong horse to back out of this lead group.
That leaves Spieth and Schauffele. While Spieth has been rejuvenated over the last half-year or so, he has yet to show it at a major tournament. Schauffele is still in his rut of being the bridesmaid but never the bride.
It is recommended that these two are avoided, with any money instead going on some more valuable picks further down the board.
Justin Thomas is available for a discount at +2200, when he is usually found amongst the shortest five prices. While this course is long, JT has shown he can turn it on at any course in the world.
Other names to watch include Viktor Hovland at +2500, Cam Smith at +5000, Corey Conners at +6600, and Sungjae Im at +10000.
Hovland and Smith are two of the best young players in the world who could be looking to claim their first major. Corey Connors has evolved into an elite player over the last year while Sungjae Im is simply too good to be available at the +10000 price tag.
