- Calvin Kattar is favored over Dan Ige in the main event with -305 odds.
- Jimmie Rivera is favored over Cody Stamann with -140 odds.
- Molly McCann is favored over Taila Santos with -120 odds.
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – UFC’s fight island has been in full swing with tons of action and UFC Fight Night 172 will be no different.
There are five fights that are scheduled to take place on the main card. Legal sports betting sites have odds for all of the five main card fights. The main card is going to be headlined by Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige. Kattar is the heavy favorite here with -305 odds while Iges’ odds are at +255.
Kattar is the favorite over Ige being that he has more fighting experience with a 21-4 record while Ige has a 14-2 record. Not to take anything away from Ige as a 14-2 record is impressive, but experience does pay off.
The question is will Kattar’s upper hand on experience be enough to back up his UFC odds.
In his previous five fights, Kattar has been streaky as he has gone just 3-2. Ige, however, does have the hot hand going into this fight as he is on a six-fight win streak.
Benoit Vs. Elliot
Tim Elliot is considered the favorite over Ryan Benoit with -124 odds while Benoit’s odds are at +104. Bettors should hold off here on taking the favorite. In their last seven fights, Elliot has shown no promise at all that would back up his favored odds as he has gone 2-5. Benoit, on the other hand, has not been much better as he has gone 3-4.
What separates the two fighters is that Elliot is currently on a three-fight losing streak while Benoit has not lost two fights in a row during his career.
With that being said, bettors could be in line for another underdog win here and could be satisfied with the payout coming with Ryan Benoit.
Rivera Vs. Stamann
Jimmie Rivera’s -140 odds are favored over Cody Stamann’s +120.
Both fighters have been nothing short of spectacular in their careers, but Rivera has shown consistent dominance as he does have a 20-fight win streak in his career while Stamann’s longest streak was 10 wins. In each of their past five fights, however, Rivera has been inconsistent having gone 2-3 while Stamann has gone 3-1-1.
Bettors should not be discouraged by Rivera’s recent struggles as he still overpowers Stamann in dominance.
McCann Vs. Santos
Molly McCann and Taila Santos will square off in a heavy-hitting fight. McCann is the favorite over Santos with -120 odds while Santos’ odds sit at +100.
Both fighters have shown consistency over the course of their careers as McCann sits at a 10-2 record while Santos has a 15-1 record. Despite not being the favorite, Santos should be heavily considered to win this fight as her previous fight was her first loss.
McCann has also put on a show though, as she has gone 9-1 in her previous 10 fights as well; however, it is hard to think Santos will lose two in a row.
Razak Alhassan Vs. Lazzez
Abdul Razak Alhassan will be taking on Mounir Lazzez in the first fight on the main card. Razak Alhassan is the favorite here with -330 odds while Lazzez’s odds are +270.
This fight will also mark the Debut of Mounir Lazzez. Razak Alhassan should be considered the favorite by no means as he is an established fighter at 10-1 in his career. Lazzez, on the other hand, has a 9-1 MMA record ahead of his first UFC fight.
Being that Razak Alhassan is already an established fighter in the UFC, it should be more than enough to sway bettors to bet on him.
