STAVELOT – The 2020 Belgian Grand Prix will be held on Sunday with qualifiers for the race beginning on Saturday and odds are up on sportsbooks for who will cross that finish line first.

The event will take place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot as it’s been done since the race’s inaugural year in 1925.

Details On The Belgian Grand Prix And Drivers

The race track is 4.35 miles around and drivers must circle it 44 times, covering a total of almost 192 miles of asphalt. Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc representing Ferrari, became the first professional from Monaco to win the race in 2019.

In second place was German driver Sebastian Vettel who was also with Ferrari. The third-place winner, British driver Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes, was slated to be a top contender then and he is definitely set to be one rolling into the 2020 race as the favorite as far as online sportsbooks are concerned.

Currently, the standings have Lewis Hamilton in first place next to all other drivers in the race by a landslide with 132 points. In second place is Dutch driver Max Verstappen with 95 points. A close third is Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas with 89 points. Verstappen is representing the Red Bull Racing Honda company while Bottas is with Mercedes like Hamilton.

Practices for the Belgian Grand Prix began on Friday where the surprise first-place winner was Valtteri Bottas. He ousted Hamilton out of first place, only being less than a second faster.

But that’s all it takes in a race which is what makes them as exciting as they are heartbreaking for the competitors and fans that wager on them. Verstappen came in third during the practice which leaves the drivers names listed in the standings the same, just jumbled in a different order.

The Formula 1 Race, officially called “The Formula 1 Rolex Belgian Grand Prix 2020” has been a time-honored tradition for the sport of race car driving for nearly 100 years.

Sadly, 2019 saw the death of the famous French race car driver Anthoine Hubert when his car crashed. He was likely to win the race most people said. Coming off of that sorrowful event, the 2020 race should prove to be a much better one.

While Leclerc dedicated his 2019 win to his lost friend, Hubert may be honored once again during the race this weekend.

Two practices are being held on Friday and one will be held early Saturday before the qualifying event. And then Sunday is when the real racing fun begins.
