- Tiz The Law is a -137 favorite to win the 2020 Belmont Stakes.
- The Belmont Stakes will be the first race of the Triple Crown for the first time in Horse Racing history.
- Jungle Runner has the longest odds to win the Belmont Stakes at +5000.
NEW YORK – The return of one of the biggest races in horse racing will be welcomed at sportsbooks as the first major betting event in the sport.
The 2020 Belmont Stakes will be taking place Saturday and will mark the first time the Belmont will host the first leg of the Triple Crown in horse racing history because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The length of the race had to be altered due to the pandemic as well as the horses will run a 1-1/8 mile course instead of the usual 1.5-mile length of the track.
The nine horses in the field for the Belmont Stakes will compete for the first jewel of the triple crown in a race where Tiz The Law comes in as the horse to beat with -137 odds.
However, eight other horses will be running beside Tiz The Law, as horse bettors will have a chance to take the favorite or the longest darkhorse in the field.
Tiz The Law -137
The favorite to win the race is Tiz the Law and for good reason, as the horse has won four of its last five starts.
The Belmont field won’t feature horses like Honor AP to push Tiz the Law but that matchup will be seen in the Kentucky Derby.
Expect Tiz to come out and get an early lead on the pack and to not give up any ground after taking the lead.
The -137 is worth the price but there are much bigger gains to be made on the odds board on an upset in this race.
Tap It To Win +500
Tap It To Win has the second shortest odds at +500 to win and has two statement wins in as many starts for the horse.
That makes this horse one of the hottest buys on the odds board and it is reflected in the +500 odds.
However, fade this horse on Saturday because it hasn’t faced top competition yet and could struggle to find a place among the front of the pack at Belmont on Saturday.
Dr Post +700
Dr Post comes into the Belmont Stakes on a two-race win streak and is one of the horses expected to push Tiz the Law at the front of the pack.
The +700 odds at legal sports betting sites on Dr Post are well worth the risk especially since the horse has had some good runs leading up to the Belmont Stakes.
If anything, just a small wager on Dr Post could help a bettor hedge any previous bet on the Belmont, especially if Post can dethrone Tiz the Law.
Sole Volante +800
Sole Volante is the second-best horse in the Belmont Stakes and this horse has the potential to challenge Tiz the Law for the victory in New York this weekend.
Sole Volante was last in action on June 10 at the Gulf Stream Park races where the horse finished in first place.
The +800 odds on Sole Volante are one of the best value buys on the Belmont Stakes especially if the horse gets off to a fast start Saturday afternoon.
Modernist +1400
Modernist is one of the best longshot plays regarding the Belmont Stakes betting odds this year, as the horse has already won two 1-1/8 mile races this year and should have no problems in this race.
Those showings should give bettors confidence to take the +1400 odds on Modernist to win.
Even if just a small wager on Modernist the +1400 odds are well worth the dice roll on a horse that could upset the field at Belmont.
Max Player +1600
Max Player hasn’t finished below second place in his last three starts and this horse also recorded a win at the last 1-1/8 mile track it competed at.
The Belmont field only features one true frontrunner in Tiz the Law but Max Player is one of the horses with longer odds that could lead the pack this weekend.
Don’t shy away from the +1600 odds on Max Player make a small investment on the horse and see how the race unfolds.
Pneumatic +2000
Pneumatic has one victory in its last two starts but at the Belmont Stakes don’t expect this horse to pull off any daring upsets on Saturday.
This will be the longest race this horse has run all season and that doesn’t typically result in a win for most horses.
Avoid the odds on Pneumatic and take the odds on Modernist or Max Player if looking for a long-shot horse to bet on.
Farmington Road +2200
Farmington Road has faced some stiff competition its last couple of starts but that should help the horse at Belmont.
Despite having run three 1-1/8 mile races already, the horse’s time has improved in each race.
This horse will surprise some people on Saturday and although it may not come with a victory, Farmington Road has a better chance at winning the Belmont Stakes than the +2200 odds suggest.
Jungle Runner +5000
Jungle Runner has the longest odds to win the Belmont Stakes at +5000 and the racehorse has been inconsistent over its last five starts.
Avoid betting any big money on Jungle Runner at the Belmont, as this horse likely won’t even finish in the top half of the horses in the race.
The Belmont Stakes will be Saturday, June 20 at 3 p.m. EST and will be broadcasted by NBC.
