Cal Ripken Jr, Appointed Special Advisory Role For DraftKings

• Major gaming powerhouse DraftKings has just announced the addition of baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr. to its advisory team.
• Ripken Jr. will serve as a special advisor to the CEO and board of directors, and will lead strategic insights on company plans, as well as becoming a DK equity holder.

BOSTON, Mass. – Multimedia sports betting and daily fantasy giant DraftKings has just landed a huge new addition in the form of retired baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr.

The company announced Thursday that Cal Ripken Jr. will be joining the DraftKings team as a special advisor. He will serve as a source of information intended to aid the CEO of DraftKings and their board of directors.

In a press release put out by the company, DraftKings announced that Ripken Jr will “lead strategic insights…on key company initiatives”. Ripken Jr. will also become a DKNG equity holder.

Ripken Jr’s accomplishments in baseball stand on their own. As a player, Ripken was one of only ten players in MLB history with more than 3,000 hits and 400 home runs. He is a World Series Champion, two time AL MVP, two-time Gold Glove winner, and a 19-time All-Star.

Anyone who bet on baseball during Ripken’s tenure in the league is well aware of the damage the former shortstop and third basemen could do.

Ripken is likely most well-known for his streak of 2,632 consecutive games played, a record that still holds today. After retiring in 2001, Ripken has gone on to be a successful businessman and entrepreneur.

This move will look to bring more power to an already soaring company in the legal sports betting world.

DraftKings will continue to expand their sportsbooks into more legal states down the line, in addition to providing their industry-leading daily fantasy sports offerings.
