LAS VEGAS – The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) has officially signed a multi-year deal with Sportradar to be their supplier of sports integrity solutions.
Under the terms of the partnership, Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System (FDS) will be implemented into all CBA games. The monitoring system will oversee betting activity on the match and report any suspicious betting patterns to the proper authorities.
Sportradar’s Intelligence & Investigation Services will also be added to the CBA’s integrity program by Mandarin-speaking experts in the Chinese sports betting space.
Sportradar will even hold integrity workshops with the CBA’s teams, referees, and commissioners once a year to further educate them on potential integrity risks to their matches.
“Safeguarding the integrity of Chinese Basketball is one of our highest priorities, and in looking to achieve this, Sportradar were a clear and obvious choice as our partner,” said David Wong, chief executive officer of the CBA.
“By adding their bet monitoring, education and intelligence services to our integrity operation, we are confident that CBA League games will continue to be played with the highest ethical standards.”
Sportradar US, The NBA, And China
The CBA is only one of the multiple sports leagues that Sportradar caters to. In November of 2018, Sportradar was announced as one of the NBA’s data distributors. The deal allows Sportradar to sell the data they collect from NBA games to US sportsbooks.
While the rise of legal sports betting has started to spread across the U.S., sports betting in China is still limited to certain cities. Even so, the risk of match-fixing is still apparent for leagues all across the world.
“As the global leader in sporting integrity, we make it our top priority to establish strong working relationships, and support [our] partners’ efforts to protect against integrity threats,” said Andreas Krannich, managing director of Sportradar Integrity Services.
“We look forward to working closely with the CBA League in the years to come and being part of their exciting journey.”
