CBB Top 25 Betting: #8 Villanova Vs. #22 UConn

HARTFORD, Conn. – The college basketball season is beginning to heat up and the Big East has been one of the most competitive conferences in the entire country. With that said, a top-25 matchup between the #8 Villanova Wildcats and #22 UConn Huskies is on schedule for Tuesday night.

Looking further into this matchup, the Big East has been a tight race with Villanova in second place with a 14-3 conference record and a 21-6 overall record. Right behind them in third though is UConn who sits with a 10-5 conference record and a 19-7 overall record.

Although UConn sits slightly behind Villanova, they will be playing at home where they have thrived this season. That said, legal online sportsbooks are slightly in favor of the Huskies to pull off a top-10 victory.

Can The Wildcats Continue Streaking?

Going into the game, both teams are on a winning streak with Villanova winning five straight and UConn winning three straight. It is clear as to why the college basketball odds are set so close, but getting in on a top-10 Villanova at plus odds could be a gift in disguise. On the road this season, Villanova has been impressive going 8-4 and have also won five of their last six road games. On the UConn side, when facing top-25 ranked opponents, they have struggled a bit going 2-3 which includes an earlier loss to then #12 Villanova.

On the spread, both teams have done an average job this season. Villanova has gone 14-12-1 ATS while UConn is a few games behind at a 12-14 record against the spread.

Where things get tricky though against the spread is that as a road team in general, Nova has gone 4-6-1 ATS and while an underdog on the road, they’ve gone 1-2 ATS and are failing to cover by 5.3 points on average. They have though backed things up against top-25 teams going 6-4 ATS.

UConn, on the other hand, has done an average 7-7 job ATS when playing at home and they have the same record ATS as a home favorite as well. In their last five home games, they went a solid 3-2 against the spread.

Something else to take note of is that the line in this game did shift due to the public leaning on one side. UConn did open with -105 odds to cover just a 1-point spread. Due to the public betting 74% of total bets on them to cover though, the line moved 2 points with standard -110 odds.
