MIAMI- There are a lot of safety measures being made ahead of Super Bowl LIV. One such precaution is the potential spreading of the Chinese coronavirus that has broken out.
Despite there being no sightings of the infection in Florida, authorities are still working in tandem with agencies in order to ensure a safe and secure Super Bowl Sunday.
The Coronavirus Affecting Super Bowl LIV
The 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) or better known as simply the coronavirus has begun to affect the world at large, despite originating in China’s Hubei province.
This outbreak comes from a family of Coronaviruses that has mutated as it jumped from affecting small animals to spreading from human to human.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been working closely with the Florida Department of Health (Department) to ensure all safeguards are being taken ahead of Super Bowl 54.
Although officials have not expressed huge concerns about the virus potentially spreading towards Hard Rock Stadium, there is an awareness that Miami International Airport was one of the 20 ports marked by the CDC for enhanced screening procedures in response to the virus.
“The Florida Department of Health (Department) is working closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to closely monitor the current outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus and is actively working to ensure that the most up-to-date CDC guidance is quickly and accurately disseminated to local partners,” the department said. “Though no cases have been reported in Florida to date, the Department is coordinating closely with our local partners to investigate, confirm, contain and report any suspected cases, should they occur.”
The goal for everyone involved is to ensure Super Bowl LIV is as safe as possible. Sports fans will be relieved to know that a team of experts are working towards that very goal.
