College Football Best Bets: Conference Championship Edition

• The Oregon Ducks are the (+250) betting favorites to win the PAC-12 title.

• The Alabama Crimson Tide has odds of (-160) in the SEC with the Georgia Bulldogs close behind at (+200).

EUGENE, Ore. – The NCAA football season is just a few weeks away, meaning it’s time to lock in those futures bets for the season such as who the Conference Championship winners will be. The odds in some conferences may be surprising when shopping lines on various sportsbooks.

The PAC-12 Has No Clear Leader

Strictly based on the odds, the PAC-12 is by far the best conference to wager on. Regulated sports betting sites list the Oregon Ducks as the favorite and with very generous odds at that. Truthfully, any bet is worth taking for the PAC-12, but there are some that might be better than others to place money on.

Those betting on college football should be aware that a team from the PAC-12 North division hasve won the conference in nine of the 10 years since there has been a conference championship game. Oregon has accounted for four of the titles including wins in each of the last two seasons.

The Washington Huskies and the Arizona State Sun Devils could pose a legitimate threat in the conference, but if Oregon were to be beaten it would likely be by the USC Trojans. They are the only team from the South division to win the conference and should have one of the conference’s best offenses this season with Kedon Slovis and Keaontay Ingram leading the charge.

Is The SEC Title Up For Grabs?

The Alabama Crimson Tide has dominated the SEC for years. They have won five of the past seven SEC conference championships and more often than not have done so while being the consensus No. 1 team in the country. The oddsmakers suggest Alabama will win once again but are not nearly as confident as is typically expected with this team.

Alabama is the reigning national champions, but they lost six first-round NFL talent players including many that played in key positions. This opens the door for the Georgia Bulldogs to break on through to the other side

JT Daniels, Arik Gilbert, and Zamir White are going to make for a powerful offense and the Bulldogs consistently have one of the best defensive units in the country. The SEC is always a dog fight and there are no easy wins, but Georgia could have value with a betting line set at (+200).

The Big 12 Sees Iowa State Closing In On Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners have won the Big 12 in each of the past six seasons. Now, with the Heisman favorite Spencer Rattler and three returning wide receivers, the Sooners are barely favorites in the conference they’ve controlled for so long.

Simply put, this is a bet that could look like a no-brainer in hindsight. The Iowa State Cyclones are an incredibly respectable team and are bringing back almost the entire roster from last season, but Oklahoma is too dominant of a team in the Big 12. Considering that Oklahoma is leaving the Big 12 in a few years, this could realistically be the last time to get OU at a reasonable price to win in the Big 12 conference.
