College Football Betting Fans Turn Focus On Spencer Rattler

• Spencer Rattler is the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy with odds of +500.

• Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray both won the Heisman and were the No. 1 pick in 2017 and 2018.

NORMAN, Okla. – Spencer Rattler will look to become the next Oklahoma quarterback to both win the Heisman Trophy and be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

He currently has the shortest odds to accomplish both.

Being the starting quarterback at Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley has been maybe the best job in college football as of late. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray both won the Heisman Trophy and went No. 1 in the draft while Jalen Hurts also has a starting job in the NFL now.

Spencer Rattler, in what will be his second season as the starting QB, is projected to follow his predecessor’s footsteps as he is the betting favorite to win the most prestigious award in college football.

Rattler is coming off of his redshirt-freshman campaign in which he tallied 3,031 yards on 67.5% passing with 28 TDs and 7 INTs. He also added 160 yards and 6 touchdowns with his legs. The talent he has is undeniable, but he is far from a lock to win the Heisman.

Look at last year for example. We knew for years that Trevor Lawrence was the top talent in his class, he was the betting favorite on sports betting sites to win the Heisman and wasn’t able to do so.

College football is such a crazy sport where any player can pop off for an incredible season that it doesn’t seem worth it to bet on the favorite. In terms of value, legal sports betting fans may want to look at Sam Howell who has had a better career than Rattler and had more yards, more touchdowns, a higher completion percentage and fewer interceptions than Rattler last season.

Will Rattler Be The First Name Called In The Draft?

Rattler has a much better shot at being the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft than he does in becoming the Heisman Trophy winner. This is simply due to the fact that to win the Heisman you need to have the stats and to be the No. 1 pick all you need is to show some promise.

Although, this may not be a lock either. If Rattler doesn’t win Heisman, it could pose a threat to his chances at being the No. 1 pick.

The last three QBs to win the Heisman Trophy have been the first pick in the draft. However, Lawrence was just the first pick without winning a Heisman so it’s far from impossible.

Rattler is the favorite in both of these categories for a reason, but there’s just simply too much uncertainty to justify betting on either of these college football betting lines.
