Georgia Football

  • The Georgia Bulldogs are on top of the week three college football power rankings and currently have the shortest odds to win the 2022 CFP.
  • There are many teams that are high on the power rankings but still have very long CFP odds, giving value to college football underdog betting.

ATHENS, GA. – Following the chaotic week two of the 2022 college football season that favored underdog betting, the week three power rankings have been released and legal sportsbooks have updated their future odds for the CFP winner.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the common thread between the two ranking systems, having the number one spot on the power rankings and the shortest odds to win the 2022 National Championship at +175. However, there are inconstancies between the two forms of ranking 2022 college football teams.

Top Five Teams (Betting Odds)

  • Georgia +175
  • Alabama +200
  • Ohio State +350
  • Clemson +1200
  • USC +1200

Top Five Teams (Power Rankings)

  • Georgia
  • Alabama
  • Ohio State
  • Michigan
  • Oklahoma

The Bulldogs have been the most dominant team in 2022, defeating the Oregon Ducks by 46 points in week one and shutting out the Samford Bulldogs in week two. Alabama was number one in the power rankings after week one and had the best championship odds at +175 but struggled against Texas in week two.

Although the Tide pulled off a one-point victory in Austin, Alabama was nowhere close to covering the 20.5 spread at legal college betting sites, causing them to fall in both rankings.

Teams with Inconsistent Power Rankings and Betting Odds

Clemson:

The Clemson Tigers opened the 2022 season with +1200 odds and those odds have not moved after week two. The Tigers have won both of their first two games but fell in the week two power rankings in the eighth spot. They struggled in the first quarter against Georgia Tech in week one and beat the Furman Paladins by 23 in week two.

Kentucky:

The Wildcats beat number 12 Florida in week two and have jumped to the number nine spot in the power rankings. With their tough SEC schedule still on the way, legal sports betting sites have still given Kentucky long CFP odds at +15000, which is tied for the 18th best. There is betting value on the Wildcats with long odds still, as they do not play Alabama in 2022.

Tennessee:

The Volunteers are another SEC team that stepped up in week two, by knocking off number 17 Pitt and are the 14th best team in the 2022 power rankings. Their SEC schedule still has them playing Alabama and Georgia and legal betting sites have given the Vols +5000 odds. At +5000 to win the CFP, the Vols currently have the eighth shortest odds for the National Championship.
