- FanDuel has made a new partner in the US after striking a deal with Cordish Cos.
- The partnership will have the sportsbook as the sole operator of sports betting services at all Cordish Cos. casino locations.
- The first two casinos are expected to launch their FanDuel Sportsbooks in 2020.
BALTIMORE – On Thursday, Cordish Cos. announced they will bring sports betting to their US locations across the country after partnering with FanDuel. The company, based out of Baltimore, is an entertainment property developer specializing in hotels and casinos.
This new deal with FanDuel will bring both sports betting and fantasy wagers to their Live! Casino & Hotel locations.
The Vision For The Future
As sports betting has become more popular due to its legal status in various states nationwide, Cordish Cos. would like to begin offering it to their patrons. FanDuel is one of the largest sports betting and fantasy sports platforms worldwide and has over eight million members using its services in 45 states across the country.
This was one of the main draws to Cordish’s choice of sports betting operators. The development company will start small by incorporating sports wagering into two separate locations, both being in the state of Pennsylvania.
Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia and Live! Casino, which is located near Pittsburgh, will be the first two locations to get sports betting. However, Cordish plans to apply for the proper licenses in states with legalized wagering on sporting events so that all of their casinos that are in these areas will include sports betting for visitors.
They already have future plans for their other locations in mind but Pennsylvania will be the first to test the waters.
“This partnership allows us to capitalize on the incredible success of sports betting to date,” said Matt King, CEO of FanDuel Group.
Live! will have exclusive promotions with FanDuel in accordance with their deal. This will allow them to give their customers something different from other places that use FanDuel platforms. Baltimore casinos would all like to see the legalization of sports betting come to fruition and Cordish is one of them.
The company’s Pennsylvania casinos have launch dates to occur in 2020. As more states legalize sports betting, Cordish plans on adding more properties to the list of those that will have access to the sports wagering expansions at their casinos next year.
