LAS VEGAS — With most sports being suspended throughout the world, all sportsbooks need to find other things for bettors to place bets on. On Wednesday, the Nevada Gaming Control Board granted approval to allow online sportsbooks to accept bets on Counter-Strike at the ESL Pro League.
Counter-Strike Betting
Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, all retail sportsbooks in Las Vegas have closed and all sports around the world have either been suspended or canceled. These legal sportsbooks still have online operations that they have to run, but there isn’t much for people to bet on.
With that being said, the Nevada Gaming Control Board has allowed for these online sportsbooks to host betting on esports.
Only Counter-Strike at the ESL Pro League will be eligible to be wagered on but this is a step in the right direction.
There are three different types of bets that bettors can choose from. There is betting on the head to head winner, winner of each match, and the overall season winner. There are also 34 teams to choose from for any of these betting options.
The move for the Nevada Gaming Control Board to allow betting on Counter-Strike at the ESL Pro League was big news for sports bettors. The ESL Pro League is set to begin on March 27 at 9:25 am.
