- The Detroit Pistons are now partnered with FanDuel and DraftKings.
- Both companies are sports betting partners for the Pistons.
- Only DraftKings is the Pistons’ daily fantasy sports partner.
DETROIT – The Detroit Pistons have officially partnered with both DraftKings and FanDuel.
With Michigan sports betting underway, the Detroit Pistons are making moves to adapt to the new industry. The NBA team has officially signed both DraftKings and FanDuel as their sports betting partner.
This gives both companies a good number of benefits. For FanDuel and DraftKings, both of these companies will have in-arena signage in the Little Caesars Arena. This gives both companies prime time advertising during home games for the Detroit Pistons.
On top of that, both companies are allowed to use Detroit Pistons logos and more in their apps. This gives sports bettors and daily fantasy players more Pistons exposure, which may lead them to watching more Pistons games.
Although both companies are legal sports betting partners with the Pistons, they are not both partners for daily fantasy sports. DraftKings is the official and exclusive daily fantasy sports partner for the Detroit Pistons.
“As our first professional team activation in the state of Michigan, we are thrilled to join forces with the Detroit Pistons ahead of our pending market introduction,” said Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer, DraftKings. “This deal deepens our relationship with a prominent local team to facilitate more immersive fan experiences, both for Michiganders familiar with regulated gaming products as well as newcomers to the space.”
This exclusivity contract is perfect for DraftKings because the company is preparing to launch their mobile sportsbook in Michigan soon. It is expected to launch in early 2021.
Although FanDuel is not an exclusive partner with the Pistons, being partnered with them is a good benefit. FanDuel has a retail sportsbook near the Little Caesars Arena and will likely hold watch parties at that location.
Neither FanDuel or DraftKings are exclusive sports betting partners with the Pistons. The Pistons could potentially add more sports betting partners in the future.
