- The Miami Dolphins have (+150) odds to seal a victory over the New England Patriots (-175).
- The Cleveland Browns have (+205) odds to beat the Kansas City Chiefs (-245).
- The Pittsburgh Steelers’ odds to beat the Buffalo Bills are set at (+230).
LAS VEGAS – Week 1 of the NFL season is finally here and the Sunday slate of games is shaping up to be one like no other. With all the lines being put out by sportsbooks, there is still room for plenty of upsets to happen during football’s opening week.
Three teams to look out for on regulated sports betting sites are the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers. All of these teams are going into their matchups with underdog odds and a very big possibility of still taking a win.
Miami Dolphins Vs. New England Patriots
Miami Dolphins Vs. New England Patriots
- Moneyline: Dolphins (+150) vs. Patriots (-175)
- Spread: Dolphins +3
- Total: 43.5 Points
This game should be circled on everyone’s calendar as it not only marks the beginning of what could be known as the Mac Jones era in New England but also the new look of the Dolphins offense with Tua Tagovailoa under center.
This defensive matchup could be too much for Mac Jones and the Patriots to handle as he is a rookie quarterback going up against a premier defense that finished in the Top-10 in 2020 in terms of points allowed.
Something to keep in mind when betting on this matchup is that both of these offenses are in different stages. The Patriots’ offense has a completely new look with a new quarterback and four new receiving options to build chemistry with. On the other hand, the Dolphins finished 2020 with Tua under center, so he has already had time to build a relationship with his receivers.
That said, the Dolphins should be able to click on both sides of the ball and cash in with their NFL odds.
Pick: Dolphins (+150) ML
Cleveland Browns Vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Cleveland Browns Vs. Kansas City Chiefs
- Moneyline: Browns (+205) vs. Chiefs (-245)
- Spread: Browns +5.5
- Total: 54.5 Points
The matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns has the potential to be the closest game of the week. This is also a highly anticipated rematch between the two from the 2020 Divisional Round, where the Chiefs won 22-17.
The Chiefs are arguably the number one team in the league right now which is why they are heavily favored, however, the Browns’ chemistry is currently at an all-time high on both sides of the ball and they could make their presence known at this game.
The one area that the Browns will look to exploit is the run game as the Chiefs finished in the bottom 15 in the league in rushing yards allowed. The Browns currently have one of the elite running backs in the league in Nick Chubb, who rushed for over 80 yards in eight of twelve games last season.
Another area the Browns are expected to succeed in for Week 1 is their defense, which is starting to turn a corner. They have added Jadeveon Clowney to bulk up their front seven and both Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams are quietly becoming one of the league’s best defensive back duos.
While the Browns might have trouble pulling off a win, they will make this a hard one for the Chiefs to earn.
Pick: Browns +5.5
Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Buffalo Bills
Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Buffalo Bills
- Moneyline: Steelers (+230) vs. Bills (-280)
- Spread: Steelers +6.5
- Total: 48.5 Points
Many are quick to count out the Pittsburgh Steelers in this game, but they have been able to hold out and not fall into a rebuild after their late-season collapse in 2020. They match up fairly even with the Buffalo Bills, as they have three receivers who can put up 800+ yard seasons and also bulked up their defense in the offseason.
Although the Bills do have one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Josh Allen and an elite receiver in Stefon Diggs, they do have holes in their offense that could come back to bite them when playing on the field.
The Steelers started off extremely hot last season as they went 11-0 to start and could come out steaming once again this season.
Pick: Steelers (+230) ML
