- DraftKings will soon be the official sports betting partner of the WWE.
- Free-to-play pools for WWE events like WrestleMania will be found by customers of the platform beginning April 10.
- This is the first time in the history of WWE to have the organization partner with a company like DraftKings.
BOSTON – On Monday, DraftKings went public with the news that they will be entering a partnership with the WWE that will officially make them the organization’s sports betting operator.
This deal is still in motion because of the number of regulatory approvals it needs across the United States and its different regulated markets for sports betting.
What’s The Deal
This new partnership will open up the free-to-play pools for WWE fans to participate in within the multiple regulated betting markets nationwide. Free-to-play pools are one of the most popular contests that DraftKings offers their customers and now the WWE will be a part of that fun.
WrestleMania, happening on April 10 and 11 will serve as the debut of the mobile sportsbook’s offering to WWE lovers and those that just want to get in on the action. Hardcore WWE followers and DraftKings users will be introduced to programming integration and online promotions with this partnership but the contests are key. They are the selling point for sports bettors as there will be numerous tournaments like this in the days to follow and beyond, however, there are also other parts of the deal that will apply for DraftKings.
The mega sports betting conglomerate will retain exclusivity to WWE pay-per-view events for media assets and in-game branding to get the DraftKings name out there to a new audience. In exchange, the WWE will also get to expand viewership and boost the number of fans they have by opening themselves up to free-to-play pool contests with the most popular sports wagering operator in the country.
“We’re excited to enter this new agreement that makes DraftKings WWE’s first-ever free-to-play gaming partner,” said Stephanie McMahon, WWE Chief Brand Officer. “This collaboration marks a significant step in deepening engagement with our passionate fans and will provide DraftKings the opportunity to leverage the massive appeal and reach of the WWE brand.”
WrestleMania & The Debut
WrestleMania is being held in Tampa, Florida at the Raymond James Stadium on April 10 and April 11. The events begin at 8:00 p.m. EST on both days and will be broadcast on the WWE Network or can be streamed on Peacock. This is a big moment n history for the sport of wrestling as nothing like it has ever been done before.
“As a cultural icon and incredible sports and entertainment company, we are thrilled to join forces with WWE and introduce its devoted fanbase to the DraftKings brand,” said Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer at DraftKings. “This relationship helps fuel the engagement and drama of WWE’s signature matchups and storylines as audiences enjoy the second-screen experiences our products provide.”
