The Eagles and Rams both dominated in their first-round victories, both winning by at least 12 points. Given those large margins of victory, especially because of how well the Rams played, the rather large 6-point spread at NFL betting sites may seem like the Eagles are favored by too much.

The Way the Rams beat the Vikings isn’t an Option Against the Eagles

Philadelphia’s quarterbacks were pressured on 110 dropbacks this season (tied for 7th least) and were pressured 20.6% of the time (12th lowest percentage). Minnesota’s quarterbacks were pressed 154 times (8th most) and at a 24.6% rate (5th highest).

After overperforming on sacks against the Vikings and playing a better pass-blocking offensive line this week, the Rams will have to find a different way to have success against Philadelphia.

Sean McVay is 1-4 both against the spread and overall versus the Eagles as head coach of the Los Angeles Rams. Against the rest of the NFL, McVay is 79-48 overall and 74-63-6 against the spread. To make these stats even worse, the Rams have been the home team in four of their five games against Philadelphia while under McVay’s leadership.

Included in those struggles was the Rams’ 20 to 37 defeat at home against the Eagles earlier this season. Saquon Barkley ran for 255 yards and AJ Brown had 109 receiving yards in that game.
