- The Duke Blue Devils are the betting favorite (-130) to win the East region of the 2025 March Madness bracket.
- Alabama (+400), Arizona (+900), and Wisconsin (+1000) are recognized as the only true competitors for Duke as every other team has +1800 odds or greater to win the region.
- The only thing stopping Duke from winning is injuries, most notably the questionable statuses for projected first overall pick Cooper Flagg and Maliq Brown.

In regards to the ankle injury Flagg suffered in the ACC tournament, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer said the expectation is for him to play in their first round game.
“…our goal is for Friday, no question about it. I know that’s his goal as well,” Scheyer told reporters. The Blue Devils went on to beat UNC and Louisville without Flagg to win the ACC tournament, and they also have a pretty easy path to the Sweet Sixteen.
Duke first plays the winner of the 16 seed play-In game between American and Mount St. Mary’s MD, then they’ll see either nine seed Baylor or eight seed Mississippi State in the round of 32. After that, Arizona (+900) is the only team with sub-+1000 odds the Blue Devils would potentially play before getting to the Elite Eight.
Who Can Stop Duke In The East Region?
Alabama is the best bet to stop Duke at legal college basketball betting sites with +400 odds to win the region. Other top contenders based on odds, like Arizona and Wisconsin, will get tested early by the likes of Oregon (+2500) and BYU (+1800).
Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide have a clear path to the Sweet Sixteen and can keep up with Duke’s offense. Alabama ranks fourth in adjusted offensive rating compared to Duke at third, but Wisconsin (13) and Arizona (14) are outside of the picture for that metric.
