- FanDuel Sportsbook is available in every state that has legalized sports betting and uses external operators.
- FanDuel can be located online in New Jersey, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, while New York and Mississippi remain retail only.
- With the recent addition of mobile betting in Pennsylvania, FanDuel will look to capitalize on a powerful and young market.
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. – FanDuel Sportsbook is continuing its expansion across the country.
Pennsylvania is the newest topic of conversation. As the largest state (by population) with legal sports betting, FanDuel launched their retail sportsbook in March but it wasn’t until last week that their mobile betting platform was approved for testing.
With the testing going as planned, FanDuel is one of four mobile sportsbooks in Pennsylvania (SugarHouse, BetRivers, and Parx) but is the only one that is available for iPhone users without the aid of another app.
As one of the later establishments to launch in Pennsylvania, the Valley Forge Casino sports betting action hasn’t been anything close to FanDuel in New Jersey market. However, with the addition of mobile betting, it is likely the overall handle (and in turn revenue) will increase, as seen by the first month of mobile betting in Pennsylvania by SugarHouse Casino.
Expect FanDuel to make its way to the top of the leaderboard during the early months of NFL betting. With a range of payment options from debit or credit cards, PayPal, ACH (eCheck), online bank transfers, and more, they make getting your money into bettors’ accounts extremely easy.
The New Jersey-Pennsylvania Connection
Mobile betting has been the industry standard in New Jersey, where over 80% of betting action has occurred through this method.
According to FanDuel, all funds associated with a New Jersey FanDuel account can also be utilized on the Pennsylvania platform, assuming the player is within state lines.
Getting funds out is just as important and FanDuel offers a variety of methods to allow bettors to receive their cash in less than 24 hours. In some instances, bettors can even cash out early before the sporting event has concluded.
Of course, add in the fact that users are welcomed with a $500 risk-free wager and that live betting is available, and FanDuel shows no problems moving to the top.
“We’re leveraging our expertise in creating world-class fantasy and sports betting experiences to build the best online sports betting platform in the state of Pennsylvania,” said Mike Raffensperger, FanDuel’s CMO.
Mobile betting in Pennsylvania is still in its infancy stages so growth is inevitable. With online casinos launching within the state on July 15, this will only further support the online gambling habits of Pennsylvania residents and visitors.
Other FanDuel Expansion Efforts
While the success is clearly present in established states, the focus now turns to where FanDuel has (or is in the process of making) partnerships to continue their goals of building an $8.3 billion market.
FanDuel opened the second retail sportsbook in New York at Tioga Downs earlier this month though mobile betting has not been authorized by the state legislators.
More recently, FanDuel engaged in a partnership with The Breeders’ Cup and is showing how quickly they can take the country by storm.
