- From football betting alone, New Jersey sportsbooks took in $614 million.
- The University of Georgia is the biggest college football liability for FanDuel Sportsbook.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Football season is back and both the college teams have begun practice while the pro teams are starting their first round of preseason games.
Nearly $614 million was bet on football in New Jersey from the June 2018 launch until the conclusion of the NFL season. Bettors found a way to keep 95.6% of that total, only allowing the sportsbooks to walk away with $27.5 million in revenue.
While sports betting in New Jersey was legal for the entirety of the NFL season last year, not every book was associated with a mobile betting provider. As fourth-fifths of all action occurs via mobile and tablet devices, the expansion into the full-scale mobile betting market should push these numbers even higher.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook at The Meadowlands, betting isn’t the only addition to the football season that gamblers can participate in. A survivor contest and weekly Pick’em contest will be featured on the site as well as the straight bets, parlays, and futures betting opportunities.
In an email sent by FanDuel, the book listed some of those futures odds that bettors in East Rutherford are engaging in.

As for college football, the most popular wager, by handle total and by total wagers, on the Heisman is Sam Ehlinger (+2000), who sits tied for fourth with the best betting odds.
For betting on the College Football Championship, FanDuel Sportsbook noted that Georgia, not Alabama or Clemson, is the book’s largest liability.
It seems that a few New Jersey bettors have begun the NFL betting season with their hearts over their head.
Though the odds and action will certainly change moving forward, the sportsbooks in New Jersey are expected to reign in the second year of legal sports betting quite positively.
