PHILADELPHIA – FOX Bet has partnered with the Philadelphia 76ers, becoming the first mobile sportsbook to make a deal with an NBA team. The announcement was made Monday, coming off the heels of Wednesday’s 3-pointer made by point guard Ben Simmons. Simmons had gone 0-17 with that same shot in his career thus far, making it something that could’ve been quite a lucrative prop wager.
FOX Bet And The 76ers Deal
The NBA as a whole has been affiliated with sportsbook William Hill since October of this year. While the partnership between the 76ers and FOX Bet is the first of its kind for an NBA team, its something that has been spreading like wildfire throughout various professional teams. Many have started making the same types of endorsement deals as sports betting continues to grow in popularity.
Pennsylvania has increased its sports betting market considerably since its legalization in 2017. However, sports teams connecting with sportsbooks on their own are somewhat new. Professional teams in the state have been embracing the idea though. Rivers Casino opened its very own sports wagering facility within the Wells Fargo Center after becoming a partner to the Philadelphia Flyers in October.
The partnership between the 76ers and FOX Bet will allow the sports betting brand to be posted throughout a multitude of outlets, from inside the arena to radio shows that are specific to the team. One such station is 97.5 FM.
“FOX Bet has masterfully honed its unique brand positioning in the US; an experienced, longstanding European sportsbook, a savvy media company, and now an affiliation with the 76ers that further endears its brand and product to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey market and sports community,” said Adam Davis, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment Chief Commercial Officer. “Recognizing the passionate 76ers fan base, FOX Bet and our team look forward to amplifying a multi-tiered activation approach by creating dynamic, digital content and continuing to drive engagement with our brand, team and league.”
While this is their first mobile sportsbook deal, the 76ers inked a deal with Parx Casino in October. The casino is allowed the same opportunity to advertise their brand throughout all 76ers platforms. They do this with the advertising of their casino rather than their sportsbook but both are intertwined. The DraftKings Sportsbook is the top sports betting company in the state of Pennsylvania and even they have their hands in a few of the ads seen within the 76ers arena.
FOX Bet takes second place for the most used sports betting application in the state. New users to the FOX Bet app will be entitled to bet on the NBA with a free bet of $20 without a deposit requirement to bet on the Philadelphia 76ers. Tonight, Philadelphia (-120) will face the Toronto Raptors (EVEN) on the road at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the NSPA network and is an opportunity for residents to try out the FOX Bet app and take advantage of a free $20 bet in the process.
