LOS ANGELES – Scottie Scheffler is back atop the World Golf Rankings, yet only has the third shortest odds to win the Genesis Invitation at online sportsbooks.

Betting on Scottie Scheffler

Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are nearly co-favorites at the PGA Tour event based on their strong play and historic greatness, but World Golf Rankings indicate that sportsbooks should have Scheffler at the top of their odds boards.

Rankings are not the only reason to bet on Scottie Scheffler over Rory, Rahm, or any other golfer at the Genesis Invitational:

• Recent Form: Scheffler is back on another hot streak, having finished no worse than T-11 in his last six starts. Since the BWM Championship, Scheffler has had more top-three finishes (6) than not (4).
• Play at Riviera Country Club: This will be Scottie’s fourth straight year playing in the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club. He has only improved over time, going from 30 (2020) to 20 (2021) to T-7 last year. There is not much room to improve without simply winning the tournament.

Scheffler has not only performed well recently and at the Genesis Invitational in the past, but he has also done well recently in two of the four courses that are considered similar to Riviera according to Brady Kannon of Golf.com:
