Germany Leads Tokyo Olympic Rowing Odds

TOKYO – The Olympics are now fully underway, with three days of competition in the books in Tokyo. The best athletes in the world still have plenty of competing to do, including the rowing competitions at the Olympics.

Rowing is one of the oldest Olympic sports and is available to bet on this year. Odds are available for the eight-man men’s competition via the legal sportsbooks.

Germany comes in as the heavy favorite with -145 betting odds to win the country’s sixth mends in the men’s eight man competition.

The US comes in at +800 to odds to win their first gold in the sport since 2004. Prior to 1964, the USA won 11 out of 14 golds in men’s rowing eight. Since then, the US has been unable to achieve the same success.

Now, the rowing teams will take the Tokyo Bay to decide who is the best in the world.

However, major storms heading towards Tokyo and the Japanese coast have already changed the schedule of certain events. Tropical storm Nepartak is currently on the way directly towards the Japanese region of Kanto, which is adjacent to Tokyo on the country’s Honshu island.

Current projections have the storm set to make landfall Tuesday which would throw a major wrench into the plans for any outdoor event, including rowing.

Those looking to bet on the Olympics might have to wait a little longer to see a few of their bets play out if this storm delays the Games even further.
