LOS ANGELES – The MLB regular season is finally here and two of the main odds to look at before the season gets going are the MVP and Cy Young winning odds for both the American and National League.

Ahead of Opening Day, legal sports betting sites have Bobby Witt Jr. and Shohei Ohtani favored to win the MVPs while Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes are favored to take the Cy Young.

In the American League, Bobby Witt Jr. is favored to win his first MVP while Aaron Judge has the second shortest odds to win his second consecutive and third in four years. As for the Cy Young, Tarik Skubal is favored to win his second straight.

Looking at some betting stats from MLB betting sites, Witt Jr. also has the highest ticket percentage and highest betting handle on his MVP odds at 22.7% and 24.9% respectively. Judge is not in the top-3 for ticket percentage, but has the third highest betting handle to win the MVP at 8.3%.

As for the Cy Young odds, Garret Crochet is raking in the highest ticket percentage at 10.9% and highest betting handle at 18.8%. Skubal is not far back in both with a 7.2% ticket percentage and 11.2% handle.

To no surprise, Shohei Ohtani is favored to win his fourth MVP. He’s won two with the Los Angeles Angels and again last season in his first year with the LA Dodgers. There is a much wider odds margin in for the Cy Young winner with Paul Skenes heavily favored to win his first.

On the liability side for the MVP odds, Ohtani has the second shortest ticket percentage (15.1%) to Elly De La Cruz (23.8%). However, Ohtani has the highest betting handle at a massive 33% of the money while De La Cruz has 19.3%.

In a similar situation, the liability for the Cy Young odds have Zach Wheeler with 10.6% of the betting tickets and 11.8% of the betting handle. Skenes is second in both 9.7% of the tickets and 9.2% of the betting handle.
