INDIANAPOLIS – The state of Indiana has undergone many changes in recent months. With one of the most notable being a sports betting law. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed H 1015 into law on May 8, 2019. This law allows sports betting in Indiana. The Indiana Gaming Commission will be open to receiving sports betting applications starting July 1.
The addition of sports betting bill IN HB 1015 creates a new landscape for the future of sports betting in the Hoosier State. Part of this new landscape involves the revamping of new facilities to prepare the state for its new sports betting reality.
In lieu of sports betting bill, HB 1015 the Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino’s name has been changed to Ceasars Southern Indiana Casino. In addition to its previous casino features, it will also offer something new: sports betting. The casino will have on-site sports betting for its patrons with an age requirement of 21 years of age or older.
“Enhancements to the guest experience will include many new sights and sounds, but what will be familiar to them is our friendly team members, always ready to make their visit memorable,” said Brad Seigel, who is the Horseshoe Southern Indiana general manager and senior vice president.
The casino will offer various table games, poker, a non-smoking area for gaming, slot machines, a VIP lounge, the Juno Bar which will be placed in the middle of the gaming area, flat-screen TV’s in the gaming area, and the Volt Lounge which will feature live entertainment for Indiana patrons.
While the revamped casino will not offer sports betting on high school sporting events or e-sports, there will still be plenty of options for Indiana bettors as professional and college sports betting is allowed. The Ceasars Southern Indiana Casino is expected to open in December 2019 with a partial selection of options for patrons. The full selection of options like restaurants within the casino will open in 2020.
The name change to Ceasars Southern Indiana Casino signals a new brighter era for the future of legal sports betting in the Hoosier State. The addition of HB 1015 allows for casinos in the state to apply for a sports betting license as well which will give Indiana a new look leading into the second half of 2019.
Sports bettors will have a variety of options in the months after July 1 when sports betting applications can be legally accepted under the new Indiana law. The potential surge in sportsbooks in 2020 could also bring more money to Indiana and more tourist to the area as well.
