CLINTON, Iowa – DraftKings will officially enter the Iowa sports betting market. In a partnership made with Wild Rose Entertainment, DraftKings will power the retail and mobile sportsbooks offered at Wild Rose casinos in Jefferson, Emmetsburg, and Clinton.
“Sports is the most energizing change in Iowa gaming since the slot machine,” said Tom Timmons, Wild Rose President and CEO. “We couldn’t be more excited to be the first Iowa casino company to partner with DraftKings, which we view as the most recognizable name in sports gaming.”
On Thursday, Wild Rose was approved to offer legal sports betting by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) after submitting documentation to move forward with their new partnership.
Iowa sports betting laws will require those who want to use the upcoming DraftKings app to register in-person at one of the three Wild Rose casino properties first. Sports gamblers will also have to be 21 years old or older to place wagers at either the retail or mobile sportsbook.
“DraftKings is thrilled to work with Wild Rose to bring our online sportsbook product to sports fans in Iowa,” said Matt Kalish, Co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer of DraftKings. “We look forward to fueling fan’s passion and competitive spirit while building on the success we’ve seen in the other states we serve.”
DraftKings most recently opened a sportsbook at del Lago Casino Resort in New York and is expected to launch a mobile sports betting app in West Virginia in the near future.
Wild Rose also signed a mobile sports betting agreement with Rush Street Interactive (RSI). Casinos in Iowa are permitted to offer two online sports betting skins each. RSI operates mobile sports betting through its BetRivers website in states such as Pennsylvania.
“We are really thrilled to extend our U.S. footprint by bringing our online sportsbook to sports betting enthusiasts in the state of Iowa,” said Richard Schwartz, president of RSI to MessengerNews.
“We are proud of growing our presence in the Midwest and are looking forward to growing the sports betting market here by bringing Iowa sports fans exhilarating new experiences while watching their favorite teams and getting in on the action.”
