SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Illinois sports bettors were busy in October betting on sports. The Prairie State saw major sports betting activity.
The majority of wagers were made at online sportsbooks. BetRivers and DraftKings were the main sportsbooks used by Illinois players. Illinois has consistently seen major gains in the legal sports betting market since launching earlier in the year.

Sports bettors in Illinois have managed to push the total betting handle passed $434 million according to the Illinois Gaming Board report.
In terms of sports betting revenue, Illinois managed to collect $42.2 million from sports bettors, with the state collecting $6.3 million in taxes.
Football amassed the most attention at sportsbooks, with more than 44% of all wagers coming from those betting on the NFL and those betting on college football.
Mobile betting was the real leader in October, with more than 90% of the total wagers coming from mobile sportsbooks.
BetRivers and DraftKings lead all other mobile sportsbooks in Illinois in October. BetRivers collected $12.9 million in revenue and DraftKings saw $11.5 million respectively.
Illinois has continued to be among to top states in legal sports betting since launching back in June. Since then, sports bettors in the Prairie State have embraced sports betting in a major way.
Thanks to the constantly renewed remote sign up executive order by J.B Pritzker, sports bettors have been able to register for online and mobile sports betting without having to first travel to the physical sportsbook.
Per Illinois law, one must register at the land-based operation before participating in anywhere anytime mobile sports betting.
With the major success of the mobile betting market in Illinois, it is likely that come the next legislative session, an amendment to the law will be in place that permanently allows remote sign up for legal sports betting.
