- Isaiah Hodgins’ receiving yards line is set at 45.5 with the under at -115 odds
- Largely a rotational player, Hodgins has only gone over his prop in the two games vs the Vikings
- Daniel Jones threw for 35+ passes in each Vikings game, a trend unlikely to continue
PHILADELPHIA – The 7.5-point underdog New York Giants will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to face the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional round.
Legal sportsbooks have set player props for most Giants players, including Isaiah Hodgins at 45.5 receiving yards with -115 odds to go under. Hodgins performed well against the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round with eight catches, 105 yards and a touchdown.
However, many stats point to this being a flash in the pan.
Isaiah Hodgins: Vikings Killer
Isaiah Hodgins has been an enigma all season, seemingly just being a rotational receiver one of the league’s worst passing offenses. However, in two games against the Minnesota Vikings he combined for 21 targets, 16 catches, 194 yards and two touchdowns.
Yet, he was unable to replicate his dominance in any other game this season, going under his 45.5 receiving yards prop (-115) in each of his other seven games. This may say more about the Vikings abysmal pass defense, which gave up the second-most yards in the league this season.
A further look into how Hodgins was able to find so much success leads us to Daniel Jones and his amount of pass attempts in those two games vs the Vikings, with 42 and 35. Contrast this with the rest of the season, where Jones threw for 35+ times just three other games.
Hodgins was on the team for two of those games and was unable to top 31 receiving yards in either one. All of this points to an under on his prop of 45.5 (-115) being a great value for a largely average receiver.
In his only game against the Eagles, Hodgins posted a pedestrian four catches on six targets for 38 total yards, he did however score a touchdown. Legal NFL sportsbooks have given Hodgins a decent +225 odds to be an anytime touchdown scorer and he has scored in three straight weeks.
While the odds do present value, bettors that play his touchdown prop will have to hope for one of his handful of targets to be in the endzone and the Vikings defense won’t be around to help.
