Jets Passing Volume Boosts Turnover Odds For Mike White Props

• Mike White’s passing yards total is set at 264.5 with (-115) odds on both sides.
• He has a (-115) betting line to have UNDER 36.5 passing attempts.
• White’s interception total of 1.5 has (+180) odds on the OVER.

INDIANAPOLIS – Mike White had an incredible performance and pulled off a big upset in Week 8, but sportsbooks may be giving him too much credit to repeat his performance on Thursday.

The New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts will play on Thursday Night Football to start Week 9 of the 2021 NFL season. Legal betting sites seem to be buying into the Mike White hype after his performance in Week 8.

White threw for 405 yards on 37-for-45 passing and added three touchdowns through the air. While impressive, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to come close to matching that performance in Week 9. As teams begin to get more film on him, his number should regress to what would be expected out of a backup quarterback.

The Colts have allowed just three of their eight opponents to throw for 265+ yards and the ones who did, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, Ryan Tannehill, are likely on a different level than White as an NFL quarterback.

Mike White Passing Attempts: O/U 36.5

White could see the volume necessary to hit this total as the Jets have shown little interest in running the ball this season. New York runs on just 34.26% of their total plays, partially because they’re often trailing in games. But that’s expected to be the case once again as NFL betting sites have Indianapolis as 10.5-point favorites.

White had 37 completions alone last week and even tallied 32 attempts in Week 7 despite not playing the entire game. There’s a small sample size for White in the NFL, but he was a gunslinger in college as well.

White had 37 or more attempts in 10 of his 13 games his senior season and surpassed 50 on multiple occasions. He has a history of airing out the ball and is in a good position in the Jets offense to do so again.

Sometimes the problem for inexperienced quarterbacks who are set to see a lot of volume is the result of turnovers. White has thrown multiple interceptions in both of his appearances this season and will be facing a defense who’s been good at forcing turnovers.

The Colts are seventh in the NFL in interceptions and are seemingly a good matchup for White to throw multiple INTs in his third straight game. He’s averaging an interception every 16.75 pass attempts this season and since his passing attempt number is set at 36.5, the odds themselves suggest this may be more likely than the (+180) odds suggest.
