Joel Embiid Making A Strong Case To Cash MVP Odds

PHILADELPHIA – From when the NBA MVP odds opened up in the preseason until now just after the midway point of the regular season, Joel Embiid has been favored to win the award. Embiid is being set up nicely by the Philadelphia 76ers to win the award.

While many are quick to jump on Ben Simmons for skipping out on his team, Joel Embiid has been taking advantage of the larger role and is putting up an MVP caliber stat line. Embiid is averaging 29 ppg (career-high), 10.8 rpg, 4.3 apg (career-high), 1.4 bpg, and 1 spg.

Aside from leading the way on offense and defense, Embiid has also kept the Sixers competitive in the Eastern Conference with a 28-19 record and just 2.5 games behind the Miami Heat for first place.

Although Embiid opened up as the favorite to win the MVP in the preseason, it has been far from smooth sailing since then. Once the season started in mid-October, his NBA MVP odds shot back each week until the end of December having reached a high of +3700 odds.

Once the new year started though, it seemed as if Embiid was gripping on to the award as he has averaged 34.5 ppg, 10.8 rpg, and 4.8 apg in the month of January bringing his odds back down and quickly.

As long as Embiid continues on this route and keeps the Sixers afloat, it is hard seeing the award go anywhere else but Philly.
