FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky sports betting regulators are adding more options to their wagering catalog ahead of the state’s online sports betting launch. Kentucky residents can bet online beginning September 28.

The Kentucky Sports Wagering Advisory Council voted to add Formula One, National Rugby League, Professional Fighters League (PFL), the UTR Pro Tennis Tour, and Bellator MMA to their legal sports betting catalog. The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) must agree upon all additions before joining more prominent sports leagues like the NFL or NBA on the catalog.

Discussion for the first Kentucky sports betting catalog noted potential additions of pickleball and volleyball, but neither received a vote for the catalog. The additions of Formula One and the National Rugby League of Australia and New Zealand offer more international betting options for Kentucky residents.

Online Sports Betting in Kentucky Just One Week Away

It’s been two full weeks since Kentucky became the 35th state with legal sports betting on September 7. The launch of retail sports betting was kicked off by Governor Andy Beshear’s inaugural bet at Churchill Downs.

Now, residents are just a week away from Kentucky sports betting on the Louisville Cardinals or Kentucky Wildcats from their couch. They could also bet on Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen to win the Qatar Grand Prix if the KHRC approves Formula One for the Kentucky sports betting catalog.

Kentucky online sports betting launches right in time for Formula 1 betting with just seven races left in the 2023 season.
