BOSTON – The Boston Mayoral Election has political betting fans placing heavy action, with the shortest odds being on Council President Michelle Wu.
Wu became the first woman of color president to serve as Council President after getting unanimously voted in by her peers, and now aims to be the first woman and person of color to hold the seat of Boston Mayor.
Election betting fans placing action on Wu is not surprising seeing how popular she is among the people as well as her colleagues in Boston.

Councilwoman Wu is looking to make history, and legal sports betting sites are expecting her to do just that. Heavy action is leaning in her favor.
Next Elected Boston City Mayor 2021
- Michelle Wu -150
- Kim Janey +220
- Andrea Campbell +600
- Annissa Essaibi George +900
Wu made her start to her political career working on Elizabeth Warren’s campaign as Warren ran for State Senate in 2012. Since then, Wu has grown in the political arena in Boston.
As a Councilwoman, Wu has led many sponsored bills, notably the Boston Paid Parental Lead ordinance and the Healthcare Equity ordinance. Both bills were successfully signed into action.
Her reputation for getting things done, as well as her respect from her colleagues, is why sports bettors are expecting the Council President to win.
“We are in an unprecedented moment in Boston, still facing a pandemic, experiencing an economic crisis, going through a national reckoning on systemic racism and grappling with our vulnerabilities in the face of a climate crisis as a coastal city,” said Wu. “And, Boston should be a city for everyone. We have the resources, we have the activism, we have the ideas, we just need bold, urgent leadership that lifts up our communities.”
Wu is the early favorite, but the election is not until November and many things can change in the months between.
While Wu is aiming to make history, she is not the only woman of color running. Andrea Campbell (+600) and Kim Janey (+220) are both African American women who could also be viewed by voters in the same light as Wu for a change in Boston.
In addition, current Mayor Marty Walsh has not yet announced if he would run for a third term. Should he announce his plan to run again, it could shake up betting odds drastically.
This election is sure to be one that will see constant change at online sportsbooks.
