- Biden is heavily favored to have the majority vote in Mississippi when votes are tallied on Tuesday.
JACKSON, Miss. – The Democratic Primary votes are happening for Mississippi on Tuesday and the odds are in former Vice President Joe Biden’s favor.
There are only two candidates left in the Democratic race for the 2020 Presidential election, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Biden. Sanders has chosen to cancel his plans to visit Mississippi to focus on Michigan as it’s a swing state.
Biden Winning In Odds By Bookmakers In Mississippi
According to online sportsbook, Joe Biden is favored to take Mississippi with odds of (-10000) while Bernie Sanders is a huge underdog with odds of (+1400). Sanders is aware of the Magnolia State favoring his competition which is why he canceled his campaigning trip there. While he tries to win over Michigan, he has sent campaign staff in his stead.
“We are bringing more staff into Mississippi,” said Sanders. “If possible, I will try to get to Mississippi. But within a short period of time, I think as any candidate will tell you, you have to make a decision where you go and you can’t go every place.”
Sanders believes that Biden has the southern black vote in his pocket which is why he is being so heavily favored.
“What a difference a week makes,” said Biden at Tougaloo College in Mississippi days before the Primary vote. “A week ago, the press and the pundits declared our campaign dead, but then came South Carolina. Come Tuesday, Mississippi’s gonna get their say.”
Another stop during his campaign trail in Mississippi had him visit the New Hope Baptist Church on Sunday to attend a service and speak to the people. He told them that they were the reason for his comeback in this campaign. And they are. States like Mississippi are what has breathed new life into the Joe Biden campaign.
“This isn’t just an election, this is a battle for the soul of America,” said Biden during his speech to the church.
Mississippi will close their polls at 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. EST. If all goes as expected, former Vice President Joe Biden will take the state over Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Biden is on a hot streak and may very well be the candidate selected to represent the Democratic Party on the ballot for the 2020 Presidential Election.
With that being the case, bettors may want to hop on his presidential election odds before they become any shorter.
